Adding Widgets to my blog

I am having trouble adding widgets to this blog web site. for example if i add amazon.com the search box does not show up only a link stating amazon.com widget when i copy and paste in html. any suggestions?

this is the first time i have started something like this. In the past several years i have had the opportunity to travel to several parts of the world on work related business as well as travel for pleasure. I particulary enjoy adventure motorcycling. I have traveled almost all of the way from Prudhoe Bay Alaska to Terra del Fuego, Argentina. However I have not driven my BMW through Central America YET!
